The Federal Building was constructed in nine weeks after the U.S. Congress had approved a bill, March 7, 1935, authorizing construction of an exhibit building for $125,000 with another $225,000 for exhibits. Funded by the New Deal’s Works Progress Administration, local contractor M. H.
Golden erected the Federal Building. Richard Amero.
