Alfred Hertz Archive

Prussian-born Alfred Hertz (1872-1942) became musical director of the San Francisco Symphony from 1915 TO 1930, when he left to lead the Standard Oil Symphony hour. A popular conductor, Hertz became guest conductor to lead the San Fancisco orchestra during both summers of the exposition.
