Alfred Hertz Archive

Prussian-born Alfred Hertz (1872-1942) became musical director of the San Francisco Symphony from 1915 TO 1930, when he left to lead the Standard Oil Symphony hour. A popular conductor, Hertz became guest conductor to lead the San Fancisco orchestra during both summers of the exposition. Scrapbook has San Francisco Symphony performances during both years of the California Pacific International Exposition:
